Big Daddy

Big Daddy

In dedication to my daddy Lionel R. Bolar

He was a big time dope dealer,
With a way out mind
Pushing hard drugs day after day
Was how he spends most of his time.
He didn’t care who he hurt or what anyone
Had to say.
Spending his bread as fast as he got paid.
More than half of it was spend on women that he laid
Always talking about what he was going to do.
But we all knew that he was through.
Big Daddy

Fully aware of the biggest arguments on his hands
Was that of the businesses of a dishonest man
It isn’t funny now that it’s over
But It was always about the money.

But the fact is, he was lonely and he was blue
He didn’t know who loved him or was true
They all declare that they did as people do
When they need you.
But he knew that most of them hated him too.
He knew those who made this type of money rarely
If ever end up with any of it
Because
They often go to jail or they are killed
Trying to make a deal or trusting someone they
Believe to be loyal, who only are after their spoil
Buying and driving expensive wheels
Knowing the cops was on him like white on rice
He foolishly deck themselves out with the sparkling ice
On his fingers, all five
Around his neck, and in his ears,
Kept the cops drawing near.

Big Daddy Two

Big Daddy Two

Big Daddy was a handsome man, a well dressed man
A man most women would love to have given their hand
Those who got to know him found he wasn’t a gentleman

His big bucks went to keep up a high flying lifestyle.
He was known for many a mile of his devilish ways
And his crooky smile on every side of town
Everyone knew when Big Dad was around
From the things he did and the things he said,
So many was surprise that he wasn’t dead
They knew him from the limp when he walked
Caused by the shell in his leg, and back,
And the plate in his head
They all felt he should be dead
Because of the things that they knew he done
And the things he said
They all said the devil kept him in the game
To glorified his name

Most of his people stayed out of his way.
For they had nothing good about him to say.
His lifestyle gave him away. Wherever he went
It’s a blessing if he live another day.
Big Daddy
His money went to buy sex, drugs and alcohol.
Or to support some worthless men or women
In most cases didn’t work or had no place to stay
People that was abusive in many different ways
Not a one of them was saved
They called him Boss, as they spend his dough
But he knew the truth when his money was up they would go.
Back to the hell holes they had crawl out from.
At the end of each visit with them he would give some cash
To do with as they please.
Many as soon as they got it they would leave
But most spend it on coke, and smoke
They lived to drink and take dope.

Big Daddy Three

When the money he brought was gone.
He left the abusers standing alone
After they had done themselves wrong
Drinking, smoking, and partying he paid for it all
But he never stay around after night fall
Leaving them in halls, and allies he moved on
They was to foolish to ask him to get them a room
Instead they always ran back and forward for him to the saloon
He did not drink with them, nor did he smoke, he just laughed
At them and listen to some funny, and some cruel, ugly jokes.
Big Daddy

Well Big Daddy took sick and couldn’t get out of bed
They tell me Big Daddy was talking all out of his head
He called for some of his old pals to come help him
But not a one were to be found
Because he had no more money
They didn’t want him around.

Big Daddy got up one day and went out of town
When he got back he went back to his old hang out
And scope his old drinking and dope buddies out

They all ran up to him shaking his hand, telling him how
Good it was to see him again.
But he just smiled.
Looking from one to the other, he said not a word.
Then he saw this fellow with his head hanging down.
This was the fellow that never participated in the drinking and good times. He wanted to speak to this man to see what was on his mind. He turned to the fellow that never stood around when he was passing money out and took his hand. Brother he said. Where do you live?
And what do you do for a living?
The young man stood up, Looked Big Daddy in the eye and said

Big Daddy me and my family we live in the park. I got five children and I do day work. While my wife got a cleaning job. Sometimes I come down here when I hear you are coming, because I know you are going to give us something. I ain’t to proud to tell you that I am always glad to see you. It means me and my family gets a bed for the night and a hot meal and a bath. Why do you ask Big Daddy? What is it that you want?
Well I got a place that needs attending to. And I got no one to do it for me. The gal and the guy that I had working for me. I just fired, you see my man, when I was sick they thought I wasn’t gonna get well, they tried to steal me dry.

As Big Daddy talk tears formed him his eyes. He had to pause to keep from crying.
I couldn’t get these friends of mines to even bring me a glass of water, or a bowl of soup, after caring for them for ten years. I believe I deserve better than that. And you know my man. I have been hearing about my self for years. And I am not like that.

Big Daddy four

Yeah I sold dope, and I sold smoke, I sold alcohol and all kinds of drugs, but it’s been long time since I done those things. I gave them up when I got my dream. I met a king and he showed me how to walk, to talk and to treat others. He showed me how we all came from the same mother. And he told me to go out in to the highway and the byways and share what I have. He told me to feed his people and love them. But I didn’t know anything about love. I only thought I did. But I knew where there were people who were poor, and needy. But most of these people were greedy. I gave them just as I gave you and not one of them came when I was down and out. Not one of them called to see how I was doing not one
Big Daddy

But one of the relatives of one of them did come. Do you know who that one was my man? Would you like to know who that one was?
Yes Sir I would love to know who that one was. It was your wife and son. I was in the park when I took sick. This young man and his mother walked up to me and asked was I okay and was there anything they could do. I asked for come water, and to go to the hospital but I didn’t want to go alone, and they got me that cup of water and drove me in my car to that hospital. I offered them some money for their services but you know son they wouldn’t take a penny. Since then I have been coming down here looking for that woman and her son. Somebody told me the other day it was your wife and yours son. Well I want to shake your hand and do you and myself a favor now. I need someone honest to work for me, would you be interested in working as a janitor in my building and your son as a doorman, and your wife as a housekeeper or cook?
The man started to cry as the people stood around. Thank you Jesus, Thank you Father for answering my prayers. The man cried out, without shame I believe you and your family know my Father. Oh the man said. What is your father’s name? His name is Jehovah God.
He forgave me a long time ago, but the people never did. Are your family near he asked the man? Yes the man said. Here is my card, my address, and some money for you and your family to take a cab..
I will meet you three there when you call me.
Big Daddy
Well Big Daddy never went back down to that side of town,
I hear Big Daddy stop hanging around. Instead he opened a shelter for the homeless and the poor. His doors are always open.
For Jesus never sleeps. Big Daddy sees Jesus in all the people he meets.
Welcome To Jesus House the sign outside read
Come rest, eat and wash your soul and feet.
As we tell you about a Man we all need to meet.
Signed Big Daddy
