The Swift Donkey
My beloved son
please listen to me
Don't lay your youth
for a swift donkey
she loosed its bands
she loves the wilderness
The swift donkey my son
as sweet as sorghum
as bitter as wormwood
as spicy as red pepper
When you near her door
come in my lover, she says
my husband is too old
here is a cup of gold
When you enter her door
let's see my bed she says
here is a cup of gold
my husband is too old
When you take the gold
she will not let you go
when you refuse the gold
she still not let you go
The swift donkey my son
don't come near her door
Listen to your mom my son
don't look into her eyes
