It's how the motor works. It can pulse the motor in a way that it makes sound. There's programs out there that you can turn it into a synthesizer ^_^

OMG! I have this scanner! At least I think I do... The last time I used it was a few years ago. It's either in the attic or we disposed of it already. *Sigh*
