Giovanni Simone Mayr Opera: La rosa bianca e la rosa rossa, Dramma in two acts, first performance 21 february 1813, Teatro S.Agostino, Genoa. Libretto: Felice Romani, his first. Terzetto: Dov'è la destra? infida! Enrico: Penelope Walker Clotilde: Yvonne Kenny Vanoldo: Phillip Doghan Orchestra: Philharmonia Orchestra Conductor: David Parry One of Mayr's greatest successes in his career and it was rapturously received upon its first appearance and was given at nearly every theatre in italy in a short time. The terzetto is a three part-construction with a introductory movement; slow section; fast stretta, a form so favoured by Rossini in his duets and ensembles. The tenor has some extremely florid music in the stretta.
