You might have heard of the Swedish midsummer tradition, the day when everybody in Sweden gets drunk and dance around a Maypole. Anyway, last year IKEA Germany produced commercials where they made fun of the swedes and their Midsummer tradition. The commercials got banned by the head office at IKEA Sweden (IKEA is a Swedish company).

People from all cultures around the world have always celebrated the astronomical fact where the sun reaches its orbital peak, both in summer and winter. In Cuzco, the Incas celebrated this date already one thousand years ago. Its therefore a global, pagan tradition, but everybody have their own way of celebrating it. Unfortunately, neo-fascist and rasist groups such as the Swedish DemocRATS use this wonderful tradition to spread intolerance and rasism within the Swedish population.
