It's too bad Letterman is such a puke. He could never hold a candle to Carson, or even Jay Leno for that matter. Newhart is a great all time comedian.

I agree.. I've certainly laughed at some vulgar comedy before, usually out of shock really. But Clean creative comedy always makes me laugh. It's the most pure laughter.

Boy it doesn't take much for you guys to get your panties in a bunch. This was supposed to be an interview, am I really being a "numbskull" for expecting him to treat it like one? Why didn't he just do a stand up segment on Dave if he didn't want to talk about anything at all, other than tell old jokes, some of which aren't even his.

It's called "respect". Dave is enjoying himself, Bob is a LEGEND. What? You expected the man to tell every nugget of his life story during a five minute hit on a talk show? Besides, ALL comics do jokes and parts of their standup on talk show interviews, particularly when they haven't done five minutes of standup prior to sitting down. Takes a ton of nerve to second guess a living legend such as Bob.
