'marie' is a name that exists in Japan from of old.

Um, she doesn't pronounce her name correctly. I assume that it's supposed to be pronounced the Japanese way and it's just not right. And trust me, I'm FULL Japanese.

hipnhappenin- It's because she is saying her name with an American accent (because she from America). But also, her name comes from the French word, "Marié" (pronounced as Mah-ree-aay), which means "married". So she is most definitely saying it right :)

Well, if it is supposed to be the French pronunciation, then whatever, I don't know enough about French names to make a comment. However, just because she's "from America", that's no excuse not to say her name the Japanese way since she's supposedly of Japanese ancestry. I've seen interracial couples in which the white counterpart totally mispronounces the "ethnic" partner's name, and I just think that's being ignorant and it's wrong for the person not to correct him/her.

Just because she's of Japanese heritage (she's half, by the way) doesn't mean she needs to pronounce it the Japanese way. I think she's allowed to pronounce her own name however she wishes. Plus her name is spelled Marié. Note the stress above the letter E.
