No John never seen his father for 20 years after he chose to stay with his mum. His mum unfortunately was hit by a car driven by an off duty police officer in 1958. You want learn about his life this 8 part documentary is rather good. watch?v=X0uQlxCx89U

LoveGrr: He said himself that before Yoko, he was quite the sexist guy and that she was the one that showed him the error of his ways...that's what he wrote "Woman is the N of the World" about. Hope that helped! :)

LoverGrr: First of all, what a fun assignment! I think Lennon is referring to the fact that before he met Yoko, his feelings towards women in general were much different...he didn't necessarily respect them so much probably due to the fact his mom wasn't a steady presence in his life growing up..and so he had "mixed emotions" about all women and the "thoughtlessness" is a reference to him not really appreciating or cherishing them before Yoko showed him how life really is for women.

Maybe it means that he's not sure how to feel about being confused and perturbed by women. Thats a tough one to analyze. Maybe he had discovered such a profound love and admiration of women, he realized that he had been wrong about them in his previous thoughts and opinions. Just a guess...take it how you will

PLEASE, I need your help. I'm a student of english language and I can't understand this line: "My mixed emotion at my thoughtlessness"... What does it mean? What does John Lennon want to say on that phrase? I'm translating this song for homework, but I just can't understand that phrase at all!! :( I wish someone could help me. By the way, that is such a beautiful song :)! I Love John.
