This is a good piece from sakamoto. I have also heard of Joe Hisaishi he is my favourite Composer, i love his works.

I've been looking for the same stuff too and yes it's hard to know where to begin. But I'm lucky to have stumbled upon the Silk Road Ensemble. They play music to be found along the long stretch of the Asian continent. Hope this helps.

Do you know Joe Hisaishi? He's a great Japanese composer...he wrote soundtracks for alot of films! I love him!
