Members of the US armed forces each take an oath to protect and defend the CONSTITUTION. Not the president, not congress, but the CONSTITUTION. If guns are somehow ever banned, many members of our armed forces(at least the ones who take that oath seriously) will be on the side of the citizens and will fight to protect our basic constitutional rights.

Those insurgents are like superpowers compared with what the US "citizen army" would have at it's disposal. Most people have no access to RPG,grenades,high explosives. All of which the insrugent have. I'm sorry but we do not have old soviet arms to pilfer through, and small arms will not cut it. I'll let you live your fantasy, We can speculate all we want but in 4 years i'm willing to bet you still have acces to guns.

IEDs are not that hard to make, and American Citizens will far outnumber the number of Insurgents. Not to mention you will need the American Soldiers to first give up their Constitutional Rights, then turn their guns on American Citizens, only after they have turned on each other. Our Military will first implode long before it attacks American Citizens. So keep dreaming. "in 4 years i'm willing to bet you still have acces to guns" England and Australia said the same thing.
