Spoems - Masturbation as Birth Control

Masturbation as Birth Control

Back

What does the bible say about masturbation? Is this clearly a forbidden sin or is masturbation an open handed issue (no pun intended)? Is masturbation a form of birth control both in our outside of marriage? Pastor Mark Driscoll answers this question as part of a live "Ask Anything" session in which audience members SMS questions to the pulpit to be answered in real time. This question was answered in the broader context of a sermon entitled "Is Birth Control a Sin?" which can be found at http://www.marshillchurch.org/media/religionsaves/birth-control

You're right about this. I would be interested to do some research and find out when people started looking for loopholes and instead of allowing God to write the law on their hearts they act like lawyers and look for ways to get around their sin.

Interesting that cutting of the hand is mentioned just after lust... Matt. 5:28-30 "But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away... And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell."

If the Bible does not say it then it is not a sin? What about John 21:25? It says that not all that Christ said and did was written. Does that mean that all that Christ said and did that was not written is to be discounted? By no means. But it does show that the word of God expresses a pattern to determine was is right and wrong based on what is written, even when it is not explicitly defined in scripture. Here is the answer to this: God said "Be ye Holy for I am Holy" (1 Peter 1:14-16).

The Bible clearly says, Romans 14:23 "Whatever is not of faith, is sin."

Nhugbe, well, u see, when u do have sex with someone other than your husband, you both do become one. You see, it was talking about marriage, true I do not dispute that but I do agree with Mark that it also includes sex as sex consummates a marriage u dig?

Oops on you. I am not gay. When I was in and of the world I did masturbation now and then. When I became a Christian I called on the name of the Lord and he delivered me from masturbation. I now never burn and my thinge never grows big. I am free from masturbation. My mind is now hallways on the Lord and never on masturbation.
