its good that they got the eye right for kojiro, the real kojiro had a childish/female eyes that people doubted him which costs their lives. probably the most epic samurai duels of all time.

Great trilogoy, but an even better book. I have the trilogy on DVD, and have watched it several times. Amazing story! It's too bad that many of the historical records about Musashi have been lost or destroyed. Otherwise, we would have an even greater detail and clarity into his life. A must own trilogy to any martial-arts fan!

Musashi actually beat Kojiro in less than a few seconds. The fight was lengthened for Dramatic effect

Classic fight. If you like this fight check out Yojimbo and Sanjuro. I forgot which one, but one of them has another classic fight scene. The style of that fight is so beautiful. It reminded me of Samurai Showdown.

The thing is during the movie Kojiro made a statement to the effect that his greatness as a swordsman was not dependent on anyone but himself. He mocked the idea of paying homage to the unseen forces at play in nature. The irony is that in the end it was all these unseen forces of nature that were behind the humble Musashi in particular the rising of the sun. One can say Musashi was in harmony with heaven and earth.

In the book, when Sasaki throws down his scabbard, Musashi says something like 'ha, you've already lost'. Great story. If it was given the Tarantino treatment it would be one hell of a movie.

You're probably right, but it's just a movie, and what good would a 2 second battle be for ratings you know? :)
