if you pay attention to the guy with a computer on the desk. He controls the engine. so he can accelerate, brake, change gears, and so, change the rpm, making this beautiful noise.

Yep, is clutch drag, they don't build it to last more than a hand full of hours, and it spends 99% of that time in gear. Also, F1 cars idle around 6000rpms because the power doesn't come in until about 12000, and redline until 19000+... that's how you get 850+hp out of a 3.5L v-10... or in the renault's case, reported 1000+ hp. Good times. F1 rules!
