Oh Claudia! And would that I could see you in a silver mini-dress. A rather jaunty theme for killing aliens who, even though they wish to brutally dissect us for body parts, have rights too.

I wish I still had my UFO lunch box, it is probably worth a fortune on Ebay!

I remember this show from decades ago. As a kid I thought it was very cool, though baffling, and now I watch this sexy, staccato-edited intro, and I get depressed. The stuff reeks of empty stupid camp. We're supposed to look ahead to 1980 and be overjoyed that women reverted to the miniskirts of the '60s. I realize that the producers also did SPACE: 1999, a show that meant a great deal to me as a child, but this peek at UFO doesn't really make me want to see more.

Sense of humour failure, much? It's a great show that far from being 'empty' is a lot darker than a lot of the stuff Gerry Anderson was doing beforehand (the death of Straker's son for example). The aesthetics of the show are amazing - of course, maybe setting it in 1980 was wishful thinking - as a woman, I'm gutted that we don't walk around in silver mini-dresses and wear purple wigs as a matter of course, far preferable to the asexual jumpsuits of Space: 1999 :) You need to lighten up, dude...
