Toshiba Matsushita Organic Light Emitting Diodes : DigInfo

Back

DigInfo - http://movie.diginfo.tv - Organic light emitting diodes, or OLED's, last longer and are brighter then traditional LED's. Toshiba Matsushita Display Technology have developed a phosphor based coating on the electroluminescent layer leading to a more efficient transfer of electrons. Fluorescent light tends to degrade the electroluminescent layer (or EL) faster and produces less light, comparatively, then a phosphor based LED. Plus the organic phosphor layer, compared with its fluorescent equivalent, emits no potentially disruptive electromagnetic waves. Toshiba looks to have it publicly available sometime in the next five years.
