Well the only case in which the two things may not coincide is in a dictatorship. This is not the situation in the US is it? The "rulers" get elected, by the majority... or should be in a non-messed-up voting system where you can win despite having less people vote for you than your opponent...
And presumably you elect people who represent the values that you want your country to stand for.

not necessarily, it depends on those running the country.

Good question. I will use the Prop 8 example for you. The people voted, the people spoke, and thats how Democracy works. Whether Prop 8 won or not, you listen to what the people say. Same with the elections I didnt vote for Obama but the people spoke so I have to live with it. It is what it is. I can be Pro-Sanctity of Marriage but its the will of the people you have to with hold to. Remember there is two sides to the issue not just yours. Thats why we have elections! The People choose!

Anyone can come to conclusion decision if they just open there eyes. It's easy to follow what most people do, but it's when Most people are doing it is when you are just one of the crowd. "If You Stand for Nothing, You Will Fall For Anything" and thats were we are headed as a Nation.

Uh... YOU don't get to decide what a country stands for... A country stands for whatever it's people stand for. If most of the people of a country are liberal then the country stands for the values of Liberalism. You don't get to just claim that a country stands for the complete opposite of Liberalism and then say "Liberalism stands for everthing this country doesnt".

Please don't take these comments like I know everything about everything! Its just something I very passionate about, and that being Patriotism in today's society!
AmericanPatriot333 (Tuesday 2nd of December 2008 12:59:32 AM)
Subjective as in how? Maybe as one see's him or herself as a Patriot i.e Fighting "patriotically" for what they believe in? If so yes. But true Patriots are men and women who would and will fight, never surrender, will not sellout there country, and will DIE for HER, etc... As far as I can see Liberalism stands for everthing this country doesnt. Wether it be Taxes to gun rights all the way to Abortion. It's the Universal or Wordly thinkinh that makes them or others like Bill Ayers Un-Patriotic!

My point is that patriotism is subjective.
