Spoems - Catcher In the Rye

Catcher In the Rye

Back

This is my friends rendition of Catcher in the Rye, a book by JD Salinger. The author never allowed for a full fledged motion picture so this is what he got.

i always saw how a movie adaptation was going to be made when i read the book, but i doubt if there ever was one it would live up to our own ezpectation. I will boycott any try to make a movie of this book.

When i read the book I imagined Holden alot more hyperactive when he talked, like he said things very fast and gave off a happy disposition whilst having utter contempt for everything. Maybe the apathetic tone that this and prob alot of other people have picked up has made everyone label the book so Emo. Still good attepmt. But yeah a huge theme of the book is how holden dispises movies. It would work amazing as a movie, but I think the reason is the only person that could play holden, is holden

"so big fans of his compositions are waiting for that to come ;) " That is extremely harsh! Fans of his work are waiting for him to die....

No! ha i definetely did not mean it like that. We're excited for the release of his unpublished works, naturally!, as we love his style and writings! definetely not his death.

I don't think it's the books fault. It was people like the kids in columbine who do these things. Loners, people who aren't okay with the world, etc. People who are cynical beyond all reason. This book just was a good out for them, because they actually had something they could identify with. Perhaps some of them even has the whole Don Quixote(sp) complex with wanted to escape their realty so bad, and believed they were making the main character proud in someway. But that's not the books fault

I read it everytime I'm having a shitty day. They probaly all did the same. I doubt the book had anything to do with why they did what they did, they would have done it even if this book didn't exist. It's just the book is very good at being identified with, for certain people. Extremely cynical people mostly.

I'm glad so much effort was put into this, really. But it's depressing mainly because of what the book and what JD Salinger himself stands for. And I know it's an early attempt and what not, but the acting needs a lot of work. The interactions didn't feel at all natural.

I can almost agree.... it's just there's so so many flaws, the good definatly doesn't outweigh the bad. It would be a fun movie to make though, so as long as they had fun I guess. Only I wouldn't because I mean... out of respect for JD Salinger and part of the concept of the book itself
