LoL @ these clowns living on the other side of the country trying to tell us "how us philly fans are"...We keep supporting our teams no matter how good/bad they are. We just won our 1st championship in 25 years & if you try to get tickets to the Phillies/Eagles @ Lincoln Financial Field,Citizens Bank Park, etc. there is a waiting list....a very long waiting list-so until you've lived in Philly for years & you're not just some clown on Youtube trying to make assumptions about us, shutup dumbasses

I don't think anyone is saying that Philly is empty during games, they're just stating the obvious, that Philly is a boo bird city when it comes to sports events, booing anything that isn't themselves.
str8philly (Tuesday 23rd of December 2008 03:38:02 PM)
You said "Philly is a boo bird city when it comes to sports events, booing anything that isn't themselves";I disagree. We don't boo just 2 boo,we don't even boo 4 the reasons you think. 1 thing that makes us boo is a player making millions of dollars but only giving 5 dollars worth of effort. If we see you're out there giving an honest effort but you still suck,we appreciate it,that's a management problem. 2 call us a "boo-bird city" is wrong because you're speaking from the outside looking in
Jefflered (Tuesday 23rd of December 2008 03:49:20 PM)
I never said there wasn't a reason to boo - I just said it occurs. I'm not attacking Philly, I love the atmosphere they put out. Just stating facts.
str8philly (Tuesday 23rd of December 2008 03:51:06 PM)
I respectfully disagree fam. Generalizing a fan base/city based on watching a game on TV or through the eyes of ESPN analysts, that's wrong when you aren't part of the fan base. Example:Iverson played here for 10 years & yes he rarely passed the ball,he disrespected fans by the "fan appreciation day" stunt he pulled with Chris Webber the last game of the '06 season, among other things, but you know why we didn't boo him? Because he gave an honest effort every time out. I see why you say that though
Jefflered (Tuesday 23rd of December 2008 04:05:29 PM)
Again, I don't see what you aren't getting here. All I said is it occurs more often than not in Philly, not that it happens for crappy reasons. Trust me, I may be from Toronto but I generally like the teams in Philly (actually, i'm wearing a Flyers jersey as I type this). I'm not saying anything bad about the booing, not saying what its about, just saying its occuring. Is that so hard to settle on?
str8philly (Tuesday 23rd of December 2008 06:09:08 PM)
I have no problem settling on the majority of your statement. If you say it occurs more often than not in Philly it's because not only does Philly represent a "top-6" market in the U.S.,but that's blown out of proportion because the media feeds those stereotypes. Whenever an athlete signs with a major media market the 1st thing you hear is: "can A-Rod or C.C. Sabathis handle the NY media?" "can Ryan Howard survive the tough Philly media?" "can Kevin Garnett prosper in the Boston limelight?"
str8philly (Tuesday 23rd of December 2008 06:14:55 PM)
Bottom line:it seems as though it happens more in Philly because the media will always tend to focus on the negative & not the positive. not just here in Philly, but everywhere. I have no idea what the homicide rate is there in Toronto, but here in Philly-(& many other cities) when you turn on the news, the 1st 10-15 minutes is very depressing. If reporters focused on positive stories, many would be without a job. Which is why homicides got as much coverage as the Phillies parade we had on 10/31/08
str8philly (Tuesday 23rd of December 2008 06:20:16 PM)
I meant to type "Sabathia" in that last comment. I really do see where you're coming from & theres nothing wrong with us having a difference of opinion on this. I respect what you're saying & I will "settle" on that. It seems as though we'll just have to agree to disagree on this & that's cool.
