Ramana Maharshi lehrte die Selbsterforschung durch die Frage "Wer bin ich?". Er gilt als einer der bekanntesten Weisen und Vertreter des Advaita-Vedanta des 20. Jahrhunderts. Dutzende westliche Satsang-Lehrer berufen sich heute auf ihn und sehen in ihm ihren Vorgänger. Sri Ramana's teachings about Self-Enquiry can be classified as the Path of Knowledge (Jnana marga) among the Indian schools of thought. The teachings are non-dualistic (Advaita Vedanta).

We all know that one who holds to a concept of self as reality is the definition of deluded in eastern wisdom traditions .One who sinks to competing over 'truth',singing their own praises, comparing oneself to others ,is a teacher only in appearance. Most salesmen (whether of goods, beliefs, or politics) are successful according to their confidence, most confidence is based on limited vision (failing to perceive alternative viewpoints). It is a great danger to "teach" too soon.
