Seeking The Tornado - Part 1

Back

This is part one of three of the video "Seeking The Tornado" (that's not its original name, for whatever reason the producers of this videotape decided to rename it. If you know what the original title of this film was please let me know). This is another storm spotter training video that features various tornadoes. One of the tornadoes shown in this part is the Cordell, Oklahoma tornado that occurred on May 22, 1981. I think this is one of the coolest looking tornadoes ever caught on film. There are some occasional glitches seen in the video because this tape is over ten years old and is quite worn, not to mention it runs at EP speed. *UPDATED* I'm going to attempt to identify which tornadoes are used in this video. Some of the tornadoes I don't know at all and will mark them with four question marks (????). Some of the tornadoes I'm not 100% sure about and will list what tornado I think it is but will place two question marks at the end (??). If anybody knows which tornadoes these are or if I labeled any of the tornadoes wrong please inform me so I can correct/update it. 0:06-0:25 Cordell, OK 5/22/1981 0:26-1:10 Tecumseh, OK 5/17/1981 (Thanks Anticyclonic and hfkjehgufihgiufewi for identifying it) 1:16-2:43 Tecumseh, OK 5/17/1981 (Thanks hfkjehgufihgiufewi for identifying it) 2:48-6:34 Cordell, OK 5/22/1981 6:39-7:59 Alfalfa, OK #1 5/22/1981

You seem to have a knack at picking out the best of the best twister footage. This one is another great video. As I watch these videos, I think how most people make the mistake of looking for that classic tornado appearance. That cone or funnel shape tornado. It seems more times than not, tornadoes have that lower based rotating wall cloud look. That is deadly because some people never see that coming. Also amazing is how some still do not pay attention to the weather warnings. Time saves lives!

I have tried to put longer videos up before, it rejected them. A while back YouTube had a special account that people could sign up for that allowed them to post longer videos, but you had to give give YouTube your real name, address, and telephone number and I wasn't willing to do that. So anybody who posts long videos have those types of accounts.

They have what's called a Director account. With that you used to be able to put up videos longer than 10 minutes and 100 MB. But not anymore. Even with a director's account everybody is limited to 10 minutes and 1024 MB.

Your videos are great! I live in Pittsburgh and we missed the 1985 outbreak here but were close!
