Most of them would have been blackmailed into joining the army, their families probably would have been threatened to be turfed out of their home if the men didn't sign up. You can't say that's free will?

any man of that age should be willin 2 fight + gladly die(not so much for queen + country) but for ther family, friends + homes. in those days national service was obligatory....(+ forced) but 70% of those men wanted to be ther!

But some of those soldiers would have been boys. Some of them might not have been willing to fight and die.

I think the way it's a happy sounding short song but with sad and powerful lyrics is amazing... Theres no justice in the world And there never was LOVE it.
