Hi im in FL im 15 and HATE!! my nose i get made fun of atleast once a week. :( where are you located in FL????
fpsurgeon (Tuesday 25th of November 2008 08:18:05 PM)
Fleming Island, FL (It's a suburb of Jacksonville). BTW, no one should change their appearance simply because *others* are giving them grief. One should only change his or her appearance because he himself (or she herself) doesn't like it.

Do know how common it is for someone to be alergic the anesthesia? Because I have many alergies and I'm afraid that anesthesia might be one of them.
fpsurgeon (Tuesday 25th of November 2008 06:10:00 PM)
A truly allergic response to modern local anesthetics and general anesthetics is *exceedingly* unlikely. The local anesthetics we inject are typically of the amide type (e.g., lidocaine and bupivacaine) and allergies to these are very rare vs. the older ester anesthetics such as Novocaine (procaine). Cocaine, an ester, is used topically, but topical use under 200mg has an excellent safety profile. Either way, the patient is always under fully monitored general anesthesia.

what is the youngest age you can get rihnoplasty? just wondering cause i hate my nose.
ReneeRush (Saturday 22nd of November 2008 10:57:57 PM)
they recommend 14-15.

I usually suggest even a bit older: 16 for women, 17 for men. I basically like to see that they've developed their adult nasal proportions so that there's a stable starting point, so to speak.

Really? Im 17. Ive been researching since i was probably 13, and alot of places say they'll opperate at fourteen. I was told to wait to 18, for everything would be developed. But yeah, thanks. Are you a plastic surgeon?
fpsurgeon (Sunday 23rd of November 2008 03:10:45 PM)
You're welcome! [And more specifically, I am a facial plastic surgeon (board-certified, American Board of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery)].
