i wonder if the parrot realizes what she's saying...

As a bird owner, I can tell you she understands at least part of what she's saying. Maybe she doesn't know what a spaceship is, but she does know what certain phrases mean.

so if you own a clever parrot you may even have a chat with him?

Yes, indeed! :)

I bet she understands much more than you can imagine. This video is just a skit or like a play to her. At home, like my Gabby, she probably asks and answers questions like kids do. Ever hear of the famous ALEX? Look up The "Alex Foundation".

So...should I release my captive-raised cockatoo and African Grey into the wild and let them fend for themselves? All birds in the USA obtained by legal means are captive-raised. My birds wouldn't survive one day in the wild. Don't tell me you buy into all that eco-terrorism junk about pets being 'slaves'! PUH-LEEZE!!!

that's amazing

Really? So would you recommend releasing captive-raised animals into the wild and letting them fend for themselves? All domestic parrots obtained by legal means are captive-raised; I don't agree with capturing wild-born birds for pets, but my African Grey would never survive a day in the Congo just because his ancestors came from there.
