Spoems - The Philosophy of Liberty

The Philosophy of Liberty

Back

When you hear Ron Paul say that he stands for the Philosophy of Liberty, this is what he means. The philosophy of liberty is based on self-ownership. This simple but elegant and hard-hitting animation will explain exactly what that means. It's a great tool anyone can use to educate children and adults about our right to life, liberty, and the property we create - and our responsibility to think, speak and act. hahaha there is no such thing as "good" people and "bad" people

well it's not up to us how much someone gets paid, its up to whoever is employing them. obviously people with the bad jobs, or unskilled jobs, (janitor, etc.) shouldn't be getting paid more because people aren't willing to do so.

Sure.. but try to take the candy bar I worked for out of my childs mouth. What more just suggestion do you have that doesnt make one portion work harder than the other, to reap the same benefits in search for 'equality'? What exactly makes it fair for a government to take from hard working people that earned what they have to redistribute it to people who do not? If I own myself.. why am I charged to feed myself and family? Isnt that an extention of slavery?

Just because you're willing to use force against someone, that doesn't make your opinions right. In fact, it might mean the exact opposite. I think people should get paid more who work the shittier jobs. The shittier and more necessary to society the job is the more a person gets paid. Everyone else, I'm assuming would have a relatively pleasant job, so they don't get paid as much. That creates an incentive to do these jobs that no one wants to do. Sounds fair, right?

only if you don't take into consideration the work, money and effort the people who have pleasant jobs, spent to get in their positions, where as someone who works in an unpleasant job probably did not.
mistaspot1 (Saturday 29th of November 2008 08:14:14 PM)
Well that work and effort would qualify as a shitty job, wouldn't it?
uhmaezing (Saturday 29th of November 2008 09:14:38 PM)
i'm not saying that ppl with shitty jobs don't work hard at their job, i'm just saying, people who do have higher paying jobs (which doesn't mean they're more pleasant) chances are they did a lot of work to get there (education, earning money for education etc)
mistaspot1 (Saturday 29th of November 2008 11:56:52 PM)
OK? It's irrelevant to the conversation. I'm saying we should pay people more for jobs that suck only if they are jobs that need to get done and are jobs that no one else wants to do. Making yourself suffer needlessly does not give you the right to more shit than someone who does not subject themselves to that.

"Self-ownership is an incoherent concept pushed by neo-classical liberals as a way of justifying property rights." So I take it socialism works? Im curious to understand your logic. We are not individuals that seek our own way but lost puppets waiting for masters to court our strings? Am I silly to think that the individual is more powerful than the government? It seems to me that group think and acceptance of government has done our country no justice to our liberty and bounty.
