I met Artie in Gilroy, California, thanks Rocco of Gilroy Guitar Gallery for bringing him. He gave a great performance and was just wonderful. I told him that he reminded me of Joe Pass and next thing I knew he was hugging me and telling me that was the best compliment he ever received. I am so glad that I bought his cd and had him autograph it. What a sweet man he was. I am so sadden by his passing but I know the his soul never died - nor his music!

Sad that he passed on. I saw him twice at a Taylor Clinic. Really solid player, good at a great many styles, and he seemed also to be a gentle and laid back person. It's a loss.

I am awash in tears watching this, but so very grateful that the videos exist. Thank you Miles and everyone involved for having Artie at the FTC. Artie was one of the kindest, most gentle people that ever walked this earth and his beautiful music will not soon be forgotten. No more classy act ever walked onto a stage, nor any more talented.

To me Artie Traum was one of the last links to the generation that gave birth to some of the most imaginative music in history. That generation will never be repeated. I've just been listening to Artie's stunningly beautiful guitar solo "The Sun At Worldset". It has to be one of the most poignant tunes ever done. Deeply saddened to hear of this great artists death.

My husband Don and I met Artie 5 years ago when he was a Clinician for Taylor Guitars. He appeared at our store, Pro Line Music, and captured our hearts immediately. Twice more also, independent of Taylor, we so looked forward to him. The last time we had a great dinner party too, so enjoyable. He was not only a wonderfully gifted artist and engaging storyteller, but a loving, kind, and charming man. The world will be a little less warm and wise without Artie-he was a gem of a human being.

I remember meeting Artie for the first time in May when I helped do the sound for your performance in Glens Falls, and how much I loved the music and story's you told. RIP Artie. :'(

RIP Artie, my friend. I told you the last time I saw you in Gilroy, CA that "your music always brings a smile to my face and makes me feel better, no matter how bad the day has been." You gave me a hug and thanked me. There was no better way to say "goodbye" to you had I known it was the last time I would see you. May you fly with the doves for the rest of time and may we hear your music in the breezes of peace, love, and happiness as long as we can all hear.

Thank you for telling me. He had written back to me and told me his inspiration was from Michael Doucet. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. He was a caring musician.
