Dead Fantasy II: Æ (Apocalypse Edition)Back...Okay, fine, this time I have no excuse. This video was meant to continue on the success and popularity of Dead Fantasy I: Apocalypse Edition, but that is just one of the objectives for doing this follow-up. The first one was done to offer a change of musical pace to his future videos...and not only did it turn out to be my most popular video of them all, but it had the exact effect that I had initially hoped for to its creator, Monty Oum...and now, I deeply regret it Those of you who saw Haloid know that he gave a cornucopia of acknowledgments to anyone who had remotely inspired him and his video. So, when I tuned in to Dead Fantasy II, in the first days of its release, and saw Brian Tyler's name in the opening credits, I was very excited and quickly scrolled through the lengthy comments to see an acknowledgment of my efforts...only to see that I, nor my videos were mentioned at all. Normally, I just appreciate the self-gratification of my efforts in my videos, as I never make anything that isn't worth watching to me. The public response is just a bonus, should it be positive, of course...but to this day, I still am curious as to why I am not recognized for my efforts in introducing Mr. Oum to the music of Brian Tyler in the first place. The themes of the first half of "Dead Fantasy II" are the exact same ones I used months ago for "Haloid: Æ", (From The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift) and while he did not use the "War Opening Titles-Remix", he still drew from that same album ("War") as well. If his creative process is really in tuned with the music, as hes often says it is...then that means I am the person most indirectly responsible for making Dead Fantasy II the incredibly fast-paced and thrilling ride that it is. What would this video have been like without my input? We will never know... I am ashamed to confess that the ulterior motive for making Dead Fantasy II: Æ was to retaliate against this insult. Mr. Oum refused to answer my questions about the matter, and on his deviantART journal entries, he lists the music and speaks as though he knew the mans work all along. This is no longer simply about demanding credit. Monty Oum butchered the first theme you hear in the original video, and that tells me that he spent too much effort on forcing the music to fit his vision, but what he doesn't realize that that's never the case in the actual motion picture industry. A composer works for months on end to create themes for a film. They go through many trials of writing, testing and editing to get it right, for any series of events depicted on-screen. If a particular theme just doesn't at all for the scene, they just discard it and try again with another arrangement. I vowed to find music from my collection that would fit the movie more naturally than Mr. Oum's attempts, with only a fraction of the effort. By the end of the second consecutive viewing of the video, I already knew what I had wanted to hear. John Powell is the composer of all the themes you will hear in this video, but I am intentionally withholding the name of the album(s) used, in the off chance that Mr. Oum will once again try to copy me. I would like to see if he is that knowledgeable about film music that he can find any new undiscovered scores by himself. As far as revenges go, this is pretty pathetic, I know that. And if either Brian Tyler or John Powell knew about it, they would probably shake their heads in disbelief or laugh their asses off. But like I said, I don't care about the credit. I saw what he did as a disgrace to me and my videos...and that is one of the things that I will never tolerate. As for the cryptic message that appears at the end (And you haven't heard anything yet, Mr. Oum, -Jason Mena) Maybe I might do another Apocalypse Edition on DF3, or maybe not. I have my own movies in the works and I'm done with him and this little vendetta...
