He was uncomfortable singing. Clapton can still play, but I think he doesn't improvise enough.

That's a good way to put it. Page was a lot cockier on stage, but he went off on tangents sometimes, (all of zeppelin did) presumably because he was so wasted he forgot what he was playing. Clapton's like a jukebox...

I'm not sure if I agree 100%.. I DO think Jimmy Page had a bigger flair for creativity, but his playing was sloppy compared to Clapton. I think both are fantastic in their own way.
