This song could have been played for this years election, and you would have never known it was done in the 70's....it's about as true and timely as a Marvin Gaye cut. Excellent.

You may not agree with this but Mayfield was more militant in message and that may have played a role in in. Also Gaye and Green had that sex appeal more so than Mayfield. In terms of voice sound, Mayfield has the more sensual voice. Too smooth to even comprehend

You have to consider the kind of crowd that lil wayne attracts. His crowd is of a younger generation and they are more youtube oriented. If Mayfield came along during the current period, game over lol.

Fans of Beyonce, Lil Wayne, Jons hours on youtube. I am willing to be all the acts just mentioned get more hits than Mayfield and EWF but how many songs of theirs can touch EWFs and Mayfields? The majority of fans that grew up and listened to the legends didnt grow up with the youtube's and net so alot of internet stats are very skewed.
