Slam Stewart is the bass player, Slim Gaillard is the pianist/guitarist. Both were famous at the time for their hit "Cement Mixer Putti Putti" (one version featured a very young Charlie Parker on alto sax), and made many appearances on radio. The energy level of the dancers is amazing!

The dancers are called "Whitey's Lindy Hoppers" and the move is called "Hellzapoppin'" and it was filmed in 1941. For more footage of similar dancing check out: "Day at the Races" "Keep Punchin" "Groovie Movie" "Don't Knock the Rock" and many others (I have some listed in my favorites).

Technically they were call the Harlem Congaroos at the time. For a list of all the names of the dancers and musicians, check out the version I've uploaded. =)
