Mister Rogers defending PBS to the US SenateBackIn 1969, Fred Rogers appeared before the United States Senate Subcommittee on Communications. His goal was to support funding for PBS and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, in response to significant proposed cuts by President Nixon. As with all his songs, the last song he quoted was truly masterfully written. "I can stop when I want to, stop when I wish, stop stop stop ...anytime. And what a good feeling to feel like this and know the feeling is really mine, to know that there's something deep inside that helps us become what we can..."
I find myself with my own feelings. I realize it really is that simple and such a good feeling to know I can be in control.
What a perfect message to every walk of life.

Many years ago, my husband would rest on the sofa after work and just soak in the goodness and kindness of the Neighborhood. It helped him keep his sanity. I am so thankful that he was able to make the difference he did in so many lives....including my husband and me and my children.
God truly blessed us with this man.

Meekness is another word for humility. Humility is actually a strength. "Meek" does not necessarily equal "weak" ...especially in reference to Fred Rogers.

Kick Ass!
Mr. Rogers was a staple in my childhood, I doubt I would be the same person without his creativity and openness.

i loved mr. rogers as a child. i met him when i grew into an adult. he talked to me so kindly and still made me feel as special as an adult as he did when i was a child. he was truly a caring person not just with the people he knew but he cared for the whole world. i think we should all try more to be like fred.

Fred Rogers was an amazing speaker. Whether in the childrens realm or even in the national forum. Just look at how he completely breaks Pastore's angy demeanor and stand-offish stance in a matter of minutes with powerful and well though out speech.
RIP Mr. Rogers you were always my third grandfather.

This film brought tears to my eyes. Mr. Fred Rogers was the dearest mostly Godly man. I think this is my very favorite youtube film ever. His neighborhood show was such a blessings for all ages. Thank you Mr. Rogers for all you have done and the legacy of goodness you left behind for generations to learn from. † I love you just the way you are!
